CB: What is your background in terms of practising or teaching fitness or mind-body exercise?

TH: I started with Gymnastics as a little girl, continued with dance and have been working full time with Aerobics & Fitness since 1983. I committed many years to Sports Aerobics & coaching/choreographing.

CB: How did you originally find The ChiBall Method™ and what inspired you to want to teach it?

TH: I attended IDEA in Orlando 1998 as a participant of Flexibility and training. After attending a ChiBall presentation I was in a state I’ve never visited before. I went to London to attend Level 1 training and within a short period I attended all the different workshops. In 2000 I was permitted to start training Level 1 teacher in Scandinavia and sharing this wonderful experience with some of my colleagues. They immediately loved ChiBall. I have worked with The ChiBall Method ever since.

CB: How does ChiBall compare to teaching other forms of mind-body exercise?

TH: The ChiBall lessons are structured in such a unique way, moving through the different season/energies or disciplines. There’s nothing that beats the feel good factor after teaching or participating in a ChiBall class.

CB: What benefits have you seen or felt in your life since becoming an instructor of The ChiBall Method?

TH: Looking back at 10 years with ChiBall the philosophy behind it has changed my life completely! It’s so much more than the exercise or the lovely movements. I’ve truly learnt to look at life with it’s uphills and downhills in a different way and to manage all aspects of my life more easily. The regular ChiBall exercising keeps me strong, flexible, vital and focused. 10 years ago I would not have dreamt of an aroma ball being so powerful!

CB: What is your favourite part of being a teacher?

TH: For the first few years I was as surprised every time a class finished that people would just sit still and be so relaxed and fulfilled, you almost had to ask them to leave the class. It’s more than rewarding to share this moment and see others getting in touch with themselves.

CB: What kind of people do you work with and teach?

TH: All kinds of people! I’ve introduced ChiBall for the regular fitness audience, rehab patients, seniors, children at school, different sports and athletes. Everyone can enjoy ChiBall! In Sweden it’s even prescribed instead of medication.

CB: Do you have a favourite pose or sequence?

TH: As many people with a dance background I particularly enjoy the beautiful and harmonious flow of the lessons. I’m also a Feldenkrais Practitioner and really enjoy the experience of seeing all types of people learning how to become more aware through the ChiBall Method.

CB: How are you looking to deepen and take your practise forward in the future?

TH: I’ll keep doing it and keep inspiring others! Every year is a new exciting journey through the Seasons.

CB: What would you say to people are starting a ChiBall practise, or are considering becoming a teacher?

TH: Just look at your ChiBall as you move! It’ll guide you and teach you focus, awareness, movement skills, massage you and inspire you. Also practise regularly to improve over time. Understanding the philosophy behind the programme will happen on an intellectual level at training but it’s your practice that will make the shift for every person that embarks on this journey.
